NOTE: these instructions are for Mac OS-X. If you're running a different OS, let your developer know.
At some point in the project, your developer is likely to set you up with access to the source code. (Typically, contract programming is work-for-hire, meaning that the code belongs to you.) To simplify things, your source-repository account name should be the same as the terminal name on your computer. To determine your terminal name, do the following:
- Launch Terminal.app (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app)
- At the command-line prompt, type:
- and press return.
- Select all text in the terminal window and copy/paste it into an email to your developer.
- (You can quit Terminal.app, now.)
